A fine video for insecure Red Sox fans who like bad white boy rapping

Mar 23, 2011, 1:35 PM EDT

Sorry, but this NESN ad for Red Sox baseball is … well, it just is.

All I’ll say is that (a) the guy “rapping” in this, if we can call it that, has to be the nephew of someone important because skills didn’t get him the gig; and (b) at some point I would hope that Red Sox fans would act like they’ve been there before.  They won two championships in recent years and have what most people believe to be the best team entering the season, yet they’re still slagging on A-Rod and the Yankees’ 2004 collapse?

Oh well. Their team. Their prerogative. Enjoy!

    That was truly awful…

  2. thinman61 - Mar 23, 2011 at 1:46 PM

Please don’t confuse whatever lame-ass thing NESN chooses to do with the sentiments of actual Red Sox fans.

  3. cur68 - Mar 23, 2011 at 1:46 PM

Did I miss the memo? Is it racially weird day on HBT? There is a WHITE MAN rapping on this thing! Fetch the shotgun Martha, the heard needs a culling….

“Sing it loud I’m White and I’m proud”

  5. yankeesfanlen - Mar 23, 2011 at 1:57 PM

Best rap since Michael and Dwight did “Scranton:the electric city” on “The Office”, but less professionally done.

  6. Jonny 5 - Mar 23, 2011 at 1:59 PM

Play that funky music white boooouaayyy, Play that funky music whiiiiite……

He’s kinda scrappy for a rapper, but I wouldn’t say he’s gamer material just yet.

    • cur68 - Mar 23, 2011 at 2:08 PM

not a trace of grace, natural ability or athleticism evident so I gotta back you on this one. Paradigm change takes a major body blow to its mojo today….

  7. mss16 - Mar 23, 2011 at 2:03 PM

Wow. This actually makes me hate Red Sox fans and people from Boston even more for being total douches.

    • marshmallowsnake - Mar 23, 2011 at 3:33 PM

You sound like an awesome person.

  8. bklynbaseball - Mar 23, 2011 at 2:09 PM

Wow. Just when you thought Red Sox fans couldn’t possible get any more annoying…….

  9. bklynbaseball - Mar 23, 2011 at 2:09 PM

    possibly, that is……….

  10. bloodysock - Mar 23, 2011 at 2:18 PM

    I like the standings. 102-60.

  11. baseballisboring - Mar 23, 2011 at 2:18 PM

alright…for christ’s sake. it’s a NESN advertisement. you guys just look for ANY excuse to bash the red sox and their fans, goddamn…i even get sick of the yankee fan bashing/baiting, and obviously i hate the yankees…can’t we just get along? we’re not all so bad, yanno…you don’t have to take the worst characteristics of our worst fans and apply them to everyone because you have a bias against a team.

    • baseballisboring - Mar 23, 2011 at 2:21 PM

especially based off of a friggin NESN advertisement. like, really? just out for blood today…

  12. paperlions - Mar 23, 2011 at 2:28 PM

As a non-native resident of the Northeast, I can aver that Red Sox fans (as a group) are much more annoying than this video would lead one to believe.

  13. shaggylocks - Mar 23, 2011 at 2:31 PM

It’s worth noting that the comments over at NESN.com, where this video originated, are almost uniformly negative. Red Sox fans think this video is awful, too.

ahh, who would’ve thought, us red sox lowlifes usually love and completely 100% agree with every NESN advertisement…we write them, in fact. Yaaaaaa 2004! A-Rods a fahhhhkin queeeah!!

      • Jonny 5 - Mar 23, 2011 at 3:44 PM

You “people” are the Scourge of MLB Just face it.

      • baseballisboring - Mar 23, 2011 at 4:25 PM

oh yeah, “people” in quotation marks…thanks for proving my point, ya doucher

  14. Andrew - Mar 23, 2011 at 2:37 PM

    1. Reminds me of when FSNorth sponsored a Twins song by GB Leighton. That was hated by a majority of fans as well.

    2. I’d still take this over the NY Mets season ticket commercial.

  15. marshmallowsnake - Mar 23, 2011 at 2:40 PM

I think I just became a D’Backs fan…this is the most pathetic thing I have ever seen in relation to baseball.

Now, as a Red Sox fan…why not remind the Yankees of 04 every year? They reminded us of 50 years, 60 years, 70 years, 80 years, oh, and 86 years too…it is just payback, and helps when the payback is the worst collapse in MLB playoff history.

    • macjacmccoy - Mar 24, 2011 at 2:27 AM

The video just shows how clueless Boston fans are. They mention an epic post season collapse of a non boston team in the same song as they mention the Bruins. You know the Bruins who were up 3-0 in a series LAST YEAR against the Flyers and collapsed. Then were up 3-0 in game 7 in the same series and still choked. Dont forger the undefeated Patriots of 08 who chocked to a NY team in the superbowl or the Patriots of this year who you guys all claimed were even better then the 08 team. Get a clue Boston you shouldnt be talking about another cities playoff collapses when your city is the reigning defending choke artists of the sports world.

What is up with the hat? I bet he is bald! Also that chick was his sister, not his wife!

  17. JBerardi - Mar 23, 2011 at 5:45 PM

If this was the worst thing NESN ever did, that would be fantastic. But they do five things this horrible before lunch on a Saturday. I mean, this is the network that employs Jim Rice, and he basically can’t speak English.

  18. spudchukar - Mar 23, 2011 at 7:12 PM

Who thought this was a good idea?

  19. macjacmccoy - Mar 24, 2011 at 2:02 AM

Man Craig how insecure are you as a Braves fan? All I hear is you calling other fan groups insecure. Its either Yankee fans acting like the worlds going to end about the pitching, Red Sox fans acting like there still cursed, or Phillies fans being to defensive or bc the Braves only won once in 15 years the same thing will happen to them. And thats just some of the ways you’ve done it recently there have been alot more instances of you doing this. Psychologist have a word for it when you project you own faults (or insecurities in this case) onto someone else to make yourself feel better about it. Its called psychological projection. Here’s a link that might help you understand and possibly fix your problem ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychological_projection ). Please get help Craig were worried about you. The Braves will be okay.
