Cueto, then Bailey, now Arroyo, Leake pitching horribly....is instant karma done with the Reds for the Gomes celebration of Wainwright's injury or is there still some debt to be paid?

Sure. Fun. I've doing some looking into it myself, because I really do want to know. It seems there is some argument without a statistical significance. It's 'slightly' significant. He does have pitchers throw a lot (130+) but what's interesting is that Jim Leyland is even worse for it. I'd be interested in guys who went between the Leyland and Baker; are they in worse shape? I can't tell yet, but it bears looking into. In the cases of Prior, Wood & Volquez it seems those fellas did a LOT of pitching before Dusty got his toothpick into them or had mechanical issues that would have arguably lead to surgery anyways. Then they threw a lot under Baker, no doubt about it. What I find interesting is that you can make the same claim against Bobby Cox. See Steve Avery, Horatio Ramirez, John Smoltz and Kevin Millwood. All arguably injured as a result of the same manger's decisions on their pitching; only this one's named Cox. The same sort of thing, the same sort of regular season success but one guy's an arm killer and the other...what; named Cox? I'm not so au fait with the baseball stats as I'd like to be, so I'm interested in the opinion of someone who is. Does a Baker run staff have significantly more injuries than any other managed staff?

D.J: can you explain to me how Baker gets the heat for this? Can we get on La Russa for Carpenter and Wainwright? How about John Farrell and his list of injured pitchers? Girardi has a lot of pitching problems; is it his fault? I see a lot of stuff about how bad Baker is to pitcher's arm health. You'd think a guy who can "destroy his entire starting rotation" would be out of a job rather than perennially in the post season. Is their any statistical proof that a Baker managed pitching staff is more injury prone than any other managed pitching staff? This is a serious question, by the way, and I'm not interested in "seems to be so".
