Craig, There is so little press on Francoeur right now. I know he’s doing okay in KC for the moment, but can’t you please find something to bash him on. Otherwise, no one is going to cover him. You certainly couldn’t espouse on why spring training and regular season stats don’t always align the way you’d expect.

The Braves whom you love, certainly don’t need his kind around, and you could probably say the Rays would be a bad fit. In fact, why not come up with the top ten teams where he would suck the most with his lousy optimistic attitude.

That would be entertaining…..this headline was not.

Yes. His problem is pitch recognition. Always has been. And pitch recognition isn’t teachable. What Seitzer is saying is “He has a great swing, but by the time he recognizes the pitch, it’s too late.” Which is true. Frenchy has to start swinging before he’s ready if he’s going to make contact, which leads either to swinging at bad pitches or getting lucky. And good pitchers aren’t going to throw it down the middle and let him get lucky.

He obviously is a student of the Brad Komminsk school of swing. He has a beautiful swing, if the pitcher would only do his job and hit the bat.

That’s fun to think about. If he can’t play full-time for the Royals, where would he go? The Pirates? The Astros? The Mariners? Who is going to be so much worse than the Royals that they could benefit from pencilling in Frenchie every night?

From a swing standpoint, when you watch his video, it is clean and it’s good. It’s solid.

His swing was never the issue. The issue was when not to swing. Like a pitches in the dirt, or too far outside, or ones you couldn’t hit with a telephone pole.

I always thought it was “keep your eye on the ball” not “keep your eye on your swing”, but I never was in the MLB so I’m no expert.
