KTLA television in Los Angeles reports that a Giants fan was “critically beaten in a parking lot at Dodger Stadium” during last night’s season opener.

According to station’s website, the incident occurred around 8:30 pm and police are looking for two suspects. Here are a few more details:

The victim and two friends, who were wearing Giants apparel, were approached by two men in Dodgers clothing, according to Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Sanford Rosenberg. The men attacked the trio, Rosenberg said, kicking and punching them while shouting expletives about the Giants. One of the victims was hospitalized in critical condition.

Unfortunate, depressing news after a great Clayton KershawTim Lincecum matchup capped what was a fantastic Opening Day of baseball. Two years ago after the Dodgers’ home opener–also against the Giants–a man was stabbed in a different Dodger Stadium parking lot. The two teams play at Dodger Stadium again tonight.

I agree with an earlier opinion the Dodgers organization should be held accountable for this atrocity at the stadium. This is the latest in a series of violent events on opening day at Chavez Ravine directly putting the Dodgers organization on notice to increase security BOTH inside the stadium and out in the parking lot. Sadly, the violence continues and reasonable fans must seriously weigh whether attending a baseball game is worth the risk. As a Dodger fan my entire life, I can honestly say I’ve never been more dejected by the organization’s current state of affairs.

My prayers and sympathies to the young father and his family and hopes for a quick and full recovery from his injuries. In addition, let’s hope the attackers are apprehended quickly and face the fullest extent of the law for their actions. No justice until they’re arrested, no mercy when they’re sentenced.

Not the organization, just the arse that calls himself the owner. Sorry, he was too busy buying another vacation house to actually hire enough security for the “family” environment.

If bud $ellout had anything below his belt he’d force both the Dodgers and Mets to find new ownership before this season ends. Alas, he doesn’t.
