Mark Ellis is out of the A’s lineup for today’s game and may not travel with the team to Minnesota tonight because of an inner-ear problem, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Ellis experienced dizziness during yesterday’s game and may not be cleared to fly, leaving him in Toronto looking for other means of transportation. Slusser notes that manager Bob Geren was asking writers how long the drive was to Minneapolis, but Ellis said the idea of a day-long ride “doesn’t sound fun.”

Andy LaRoche is starting at second base in Ellis’ absence after starting at third base yesterday and shortstop Monday.

Good news! he is cleared to get on the A’s plane, so he won’t have to drive to Target field from the Rodgers Center
