The Dodgers and Padres are still playing!

Well, sort of.

The Dodgers and Padres trudged through four rain delays before last night’s game was suspended at 1:40 am local time with a 2-2 tie in the ninth inning.

That’s right. Four rain delays in San Diego.

Padres manager Bud Black put it best in his comments to Bill Center of the San Diego Union-Tribune.

“This is not uncommon. This happens. It doesn’t happen here. That’s what’s uncommon.”

As Center notes, the four rain delays totaled three hours and 36 minutes while actual game play consisted of two hours and 59 minutes. That’s called bang for your buck, I think.

Play will resume this afternoon at 5:35 pm, in advance of tonight’s regularly scheduled game.
