Just a guess -- the jury has already agreed on "guilty" for the injection count and has moved on to other counts, at least some of which they are hung up on or very slowly making headway on. But as long as there is a guilty verdict on at least one count, it's a victory for the prosecution.

Insofar as a defendant's poor behavior is relevant to the case, the prosecution will always try to use it to paint them as an asshole. But to say that that this was the main strategy in the Bond's trial is really silly. It wasn't. It was to paint Bonds as a liar first and foremost. The asshole part was a natural outcome of that endeavor.

I'm not a lawyer, but I've served on juries and I agree that it's more likely that there are a few hold-outs than that they are going back and forth about the different charges.

One thing this seems to prove however, is that the prosecution's strategy of painting the defendant as an asshole and hope they convict hasn't exactly panned out. I would have expected them to return a verdict quickly if the jury was predisposed against Bonds on a personal level from the outset.
