He’s had a few really good years at convenient times to keep getting paid but overall he has been a bloated slug with little desire to compete. I read a story a year or so ago that even Nolan Ryan had to sit him down and lecture him for not living up to his talents or working hard enough when he was with Texas. That says it all. A legendary tough guy pitcher who worked his ass off for 20+ years and he sees this fat guy with talent playing with no desire. It had to drive Ryan crazy. Look at this guys face and listen to him speak. He can barely muster the energy to speak a complete sentence.

Unfortunately, he stunk up the joint, and did not impress anyone with his laissez-faire attitude, either before or during the season.

He should now have his picture next to the phrase “washed-up” in the dictionary.
