Logan Morrison undergoes MRI on injured left foot

Mariners skipper Edwin Rodriguez said Tuesday night that he wasn’t overly concerned about the left foot injury that Logan Morrison suffered during the Marlins’ 6-0 victory against the Pirates.

He’s probably worried now.

According to beat writer Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post, Morrison underwent an MRI on his foot Wednesday evening, the results of which won’t be available until Thursday morning.

The 23-year-old Morrison has already been diagnosed with a strained muscle in the arch of his left foot, but there’s a chance that the issue is more serious.

Either way, he could require a stint on the 15-day disabled list.

Morrison has compiled a stellar .327/.424/.636 batting line, four home runs, 11 RBI and one stolen base through 66 plate appearances this season. That momentum is probably going to have to be put on hold.

Ouch. This is what we call “fillet and release” here in Macondo. The Feesh didn’t need this. The Iron Giant and Hanley are batting a combined .215 or so with no home runs and a schmear of ribbies between them in the early going and LM (I refuse to stoop to “LoMo” – that’s for reality TV zomboids) has been carrying the team.

You mean the local homer nickname touting yahoos calling the games for The Fish can get irritating? Tommy Hutton’s embarrassing diatribes to throw people out of the game get under your skin? Who would have thunk it.

Somewhere Dave O’Brien has to be laughing at the high school broadcast the Marlins put on at times.

Try this: the team in Florida is the Marlins. Rodriguez doesn’t manage in Seattle.

It’s Thursday morning and my fellow Macondo blogospheroids and I are anxiously clustered around the Marlins homepage waiting for the diagnosis and honeycoated prognosis. Waiting is a bitch.
