the numbers might not have showed it, but he looked great against the Phillies in his previous start. There was a 40 mph wind blowing out to right center, and other than Polanco hitting the only oppo of his career, he kept the ball down and made a lot of the phillies looked awful. Of course, he just has to stay healthy

Just got back from the game. Throat, gone. Hell, it even makes my fingers sore to type this. We thought he'd do it. We tried to make enough noise to fill out the bupkis crowd. I was there for Al Leiter's no-hitter against these same Rocky Mountain Oysters yonks ago, and I really wanted to have to laminate another Feesh ticket stub. Ah well. I mentioned back at the beginning of the season that I thought Sanchez was rounding back into his 2006 form, and it's been a long time and a lot of recovery to this point but he's had flashes of brilliance since spring training. Maybe the promise of his rookie season is going to be fulfilled at last. So far, so good on this home stand. A near no-no against a team that's been ripping it up like the Oysters have been is a good sign. Tonight, Javier Vasquez follows this gem. Double ah well.
