Brewers to put Nyjer Morgan on disabled list with thigh bruise

Nyjer Morgan was off to a great start in Milwaukee, hitting .455 in 27 plate appearances as a part-time player, but now he’s headed for the disabled list with a deep thigh bruise suffered in collision at the plate with Pirates catcher Ryan Doumit.

Brandon Boggs, who last saw extended action in the majors with the Rangers as a 25-year-old rookie in 2008, will be called up from Triple-A to replace Morgan on the roster.

Much of Morgan’s game is based on speed, so a deep thigh bruise could be tougher for him to come back from quickly than other players, although if it keeps him from attempting as many ill-advised stolen bases once he does return the injury might not be such a terrible thing.

I don’t often agree with you, but big thumbs up here.

Yeah considering the injury this guy intentionally tries to inflict on catchers at every opportunity, this is poetic justice.

Even though he was raking there for a bit, this guy is bad news. Wait for the next implosion.

He got off to a hot start in Washington as well. We thought he was the answer in CF. Not to mention a nice change from Lastings Milledge’s act.

That lasted about half a season, before getting hurt. Since then, his flamboyant, “Tony Plush” act wore out with the mounting defensive and baserunning mistakes and inability to setal first base. He made a pinch-hitting appearance last Sunday at Nats Park, and was booed.

You know, it occurs to me that if Morgan were a professional “wrestler,” he’d have a huge fan club for being such an asshole. Maybe he’ll use this opportunity on the DL to bulk up and go seek his fortune among the yowling decerebrates who dig that sort of thing. Hell, he could become a butch drag queen and break into roller derby with that speed and lousy attitude. Baseball will spin on very nicely without him.

I’m scribbling down “yowling decerebrates” and will also try for that on Sunday. Gonna be a stretch though; my audience might be mulling over if God was distracted or not for a while. You’re not GBS’s long lost son by any chance are you?

No, but I may be directly descended from OW’s attitude.
