I remember reading an article when Lopez was getting his first shot at shortstop in Cincinnati toward the end of Barry Larkin’s career. Larkin was always one of my favorite players and I love watching him on MLB network today. Joe Morgan he ain’t. But Larkin was saying way back when how good he thought Lopez was and how he would be the Reds’ shortstop of the future. And Lopez did have some good seasons. I thought his bad reputation in Washington was maybe a product of poorly-concealed frustration with how bad the team was. But right now he’s lucky he even on a team good as the Rays, even if they take a step back this year. What a tool. He belongs on the White Sox.

You’d think a guy like him (averaging 9 HRS and 40 RBI a year) would be busting it every chance he got but time and time again he’s proven to be deadbeat.
