C’mon, you just knew something like this would happen, right?

According to Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Rangers have placed closer Neftali Feliz on the disabled list with right shoulder inflammation.

Rangers general manager Jon Daniels confirmed that Feliz is dealing with inflammation in his rotator cuff, but is hopeful that he will only need a minimum stay on the DL.

“If he was 33 instead of 23 we may treat it a little differently, but given his age and what he means to the club we’re going to play this one on the safe side,” Daniels said. “We could have very easily given him a couple of days off and seen how this goes. We don’t want to take any chances here.”

Feliz has a 1.08 ERA, 6/5 K/BB ratio and five saves in five chances over his first 8 1/3 innings of work this season. The Rangers decided to keep the 22-year-old right-hander in the bullpen after stretching him out as a starting pitcher during spring training.

Anyone wonder why Washington hasn’t been using him still?

Because J5, as certain people have taken the trouble to explain to me, Ron Washington doesn’t know what he’s doing. If knowing that the young fireballer might break down if he threw a lot and managing so as your team was putting up more wins than losses is “not knowing what you’re doing” I really, REALLY wish John Farrell didn’t know what he was doing either.

Jays lost today. Leaving Molina on 2nd, AHEAD of Woodward, a much faster pinch runner and the tying run, on 1st, when you had damn good catcher like Arencebia on the bench (who for a catcher, is pretty quick, or at any rate quicker than Jose Molina; I have nose hairs that grow faster than Jose runs), is a really curious decision. Perhaps there is some quirk or rule of baseball that I am missing, but I do not understand Farrell’s decisions there. But yeah, he’s better than Ron Washington (sarcasm). Or something.
