The Indians' success may not be a fluke. Clearly they have had some luck, as they are not the best team in baseball. However, they might not be terrible. The lineup should be quite a bit better than last year, and the pitching could be decent. Actually, the team sort of reminds me of the Twins: a couple of great hitters surrounded by filler, and a group of solid but not dominant starting pitchers. In a division that was weak to start with, whose better teams are struggling, Cleveland might have just enough. Getting a head start doesn't hurt.

After writing this, I'm not sure I have convinced myself. Still, it would be nice...

Carmona has been better than you give him credit. Since giving up 10 runs in his first start, his ERA is under three, and in four of his six starts this year he has allowed two or fewer runs while pitching at least seven innings.

Agreed. As a longtime Tribe fan, this season smelled like a return to the mid-80s decrepitude...but I have been pleasantly surprised, and am enjoying watching this year's team waaaaay more than I thought I would. Months like this are what I love about being a baseball fan. And Cleveland should be able to at least hang around this year in what looks like a pretty shaky central division.

This has been the best April to be an Indians' fan in quite some time. I'm well aware of the law of averages, the dangers of SSS, and all that, but I'm enjoying this all the same. Go Tribe!
