And by the way, what does John Grabow have to do with anything? Why does he get thrown under the bus here? He’s no stud (and certainly had a horrible 2010), but has been an average but serviceable major league reliever for a long time.
Do you want the #4 pick to be just an average reliever? of course not. But how does Pouliot determine that Moskos’ “best-case scenario” is John Grabow’s career? Pouliot himself says that Moskos has 22 saves last year and had strong numbers in Triple-A so far this year. Now he’s with the big club.

Every time I finish a Hardball Talk article with a quizzical look on my face, I look at who wrote it, and its Matthew Pouliot every time.
He just keeps writing articles that overdramatize whatever situation he is writing about. He keeps making the articles about himself by making strong overstatements about a player’s long-term outlook or defiantly (but prematurely) declaring what a team should do with a player. It seems that his main goal is to be the guy that can later claim “I was the first one to say they should’ve gotten rid of that guy!”

I have commented on previous articles he has written on Jeff Samardzija, Kevin Kouzmanoff and Alex Gordon in the past few weeks, and each time it is the same complaint. Pouliot’s opinions and claims in these situations are just odd and knee-jerk, especially for someone who seems rather informed on the facts.
