Back in December the Twins traded backup catcher Jose Morales to the Rockies for 21-year-old reliever Paul Bargas, who was a 13th-round pick in 2009 and pitched at low Single-A last season.

Soon after reporting to spring training Bargas was sent home to California to be examined for what the Twins called a “neurological condition” and LaVelle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that the news isn’t good.

Bargas has been diagnosed with brain cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy treatments. What a sad development.

Holy crap Aaron, 21? He’s a kid. Cancer is bad, brain cancer is horrible, brain cancer in 21 year old is the near the top of the list of awful. I hope he comes out of this ok. Good luck to the kid.

Here’s hoping he pulls through. Hopefully they caught it early enough for a full recovery.

And who the hell would give Seisenta y ocho and Jonny 5 thumbs down votes for their comments? (Of course, I know the same—and different—jagoffs will give me thumbs down for this rant, but with vigor.)

Here’s to hoping they simply hit the wrong button…..

If not, just remember, there’s nothing quite like when then 8 armed goddess of karma comes down and just whacks the hell out of you….

Cancer, indiscriminate, unpredictable…….the Richard Ramirez of the bodily illness world…….just lousy….good luck to the kid

Poor kid. hopefully they got to it in time. He was listed on an injury report earlier with Encephalitis with reports of neurological issues going back to the winter. Why didn’t they get an MRI/CAT scan earlier if he had symptoms 5-6 months ago?
