As soon as I remembered that Lyons was the Astros closer, I said to myself as I watched this game, watch the Reds make another comeback. Sure enough, Lyons imploded, retiring no one before surrendering the 3 Cincinnatti game winning runs. As has been stated earlier, watching his impotence, makes one wonder what management sees in this guy.

I'm an AL fan, so I hadn't heard about this dude before his first blown game of the season against the Phillies. I turned to a co-worker while we were watching it and asked him, "Is this guy really a closer?" He had no hard stuff, no put-away pitch, and didn't seem to have the closer mentality. He looked like a batting practice pitcher trying to close. Ed Wade is awful.

Wasn't he signed as a $15 million middle reliever?

I thought Lindstrom was the closer when he was signed and they were just looking for some setup stability and the whole closing thing sorta evolved organically?!

I could be wrong...it's happened a time or two.

Get this guys ass out of here. Mills cannot be trotting this guy back out there time and time again like he continues to do. But, having said that, Brad Mills and the Astros organization always lets guys (Carlos Lee and Brandon Lyon) get as many chances as possible because $15 million dollars says so. Give me a break. Without all these blown saves by this man, the Astros are right in the hunt in the NL Central with how bad it is this year. Give Mark Melancon a shot. His 1. whatever ERA looks a helluva lot better than Lyon's 7. whatever and 4 blown saves.
