It will all depend on what the Mets expect in return for an $11M player who is a free agent at the end of the year. Tejada is really bad and costing games and stressing out the pitching staff by extending innings. But I am just wary of a high priced FA who may want to test the FA market at the end of the year. If they ask for Belt or Bumgarner, I would hope Sabean says no. Wheeler would be a tough call because he is the next hot pitching prospect and we need his low priced skills while Lincecum, Cain, and Sanchez contracts go through the roof. And we still have Zito's contract. And if Reyes is open to signing a contract extension, what will he expect to receive considering he just hit $11M?

But the skills Reyes displayed last night would really help shore up the Giants D and add a threat at leadoff. The pitchers would love his defense. So tough call for Sabean and Bochy to make. I think Tejada knows he is toast. After waiting so long with Zito and Rowand, the Giants brass will pull the trigger much faster than before.

Alderson needs to sell high on Reyes while he is playing so well but most importantly, healthy. The Giants are a perfect partner for Reyes as they get a little more desperate every day watching Tejeda stumble around with Sabean's $6.5 million golden fork in his back.

I think between now and the trading deadline, Alderson will be trading a lot of these Mutts. Reyes, Beltran, FRod, maybe even Wright. Wright is a real good player, but he has been part of the losing ways for that team for so long now. When you have a sick clubhouse, it needs to be done. I think Sandy Alderson has made it clear that they want to trim payroll and get younger. That's why the Wilpons brought him in.
