Agree completely. I was just reiterrating his days of saving grace of a lineup putting up boatloads of runs are over. He just needs to pitcher better plain and simple, but part of me says that ships already sailed.

He shouldn’t be wondering where the bats are because that was the hand that fed him last year. Granted, his three of four losses were all games in which the Sox put up zero runs but he has to atleast give them a chance. Giving up 8 ER in 4IP and 9 ER in 3.2IP doesn’t really put a whole lot of life in the lineup after they have to watch Lackey pitch like a shell of his former self. He should still be thanking that lineup for giving him 5.15 runs of support a game last year to overshadow his putrid ERA in which hes getting paid $15+M.

John Lackey is wondering where the juiced-up Red Sox bats are. He didn’t sign with a team that has a guy like Big Papi flying out lazily to the outfielders even though he’s swinging as hard as he can- he signed with a team that has a guy like Big Papi who hits 54 HRs on pitches that he’s completely fooled on. If Lackey’s going to get more W’s, he better start having “Big Papi’s Dominican Protein Shake Day”. He needs those old, juiced-up Sox of old to combat that horrid ERA. Who knows- maybe they have the next Bill Muelleresque batting champion already on their roster- he just needs to “Work on his swing” like Jose Bautisa.

True, Detroit’s probability is likely higher than KC’s. I just don’t think they are “the only team who even remotely has it in them to make a run”. KC has earned the right to be in the conversation, particularly since they’ve got ample home-grown talent to promote or use in acquisitions, and ample payroll flexibility to accommodate anyone they acquire. Whether Dayton Moore can do anything with that situation remains to be seen, but they shouldn’t just be dismissed.

They did miss Big Roy and the Phills lost a game of three. To Cliffy. The Braves need to pitch well and they can win. And they can pitch well with those guys you listed. You get to meet the wrath of a “These guys beat me soundly last time Cliff Lee” good luck with that.

yankeesfanlen my friend. Do not despair, relief is in the air. The yankees have 3 current issues as I see them. Nunez, had a good offensive day, it's just his defense was terrible. Hopefully that will come around with some more playing time. Which I think he is going to get. I do see Jeter splitting more and more time as SS. Posada, is done stick a fork in him. I see potential solutions here. First, Montero gets called up to be the DH and back up catcher or Jorge Vazquez gets called up to DH. Regardless even if Vazquez gets the call I see Montero being called up by the All Star break and replacing Cervelli as the back up catcher. Swisher, is not coming through in the clutch or for that matter most other times, right now. Don't be surprised if we start to see more and more of a rotation in the outfield with Jones (just to shake things up). Also depending on how long Chavez is expected to be out for the Yankees for them to call up Pena if necessary. Then hopefully when Chavez is healthy for Cashman to put together a package for a pitcher that might include Nunez, Romine and another prospect (not Banuelos or Betances). I think if the Yankees have any desire to go after Reyes at SS (which I hope they do) that will be done in the off season, assuming he doesn't sign an extension with anyone before FA. We will just have to wait and see.

Because no one completely wipes out pre-season expectations of how good teams are after only 20% of the season has been played.

Kansas City has a chance in this weak division, sure, but their probability of winning it or finishing second to Cleveland isn’t nearly as high as Detroit’s probability.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t the Braves miss Big Roy the first time they played as well? I don’t believe the Braves have faced him this year, but I’m too lazy to look that one up. Just don’t count the Braves out…they have my homie Beachy tearing it up, Hanson is nasty and Hudson is indeed quietly being dirrrrrty (that’s five “r’s” which is dirrtier than Aguilera). Just need Uggla to wake the F up and the line up is much better too.

Why is Detroit the only team in the AL Central that could make a run at Cleveland? The Royals are leading the league in runs per game, scoring more than a run per game more than Detroit, and that’s without a single PA from Hosmer yet. They need pitching help, but their 4.71 runs allowed per game is pretty indistinguishable from Detroit’s 4.66, and they have two stud lefties in Triple A who can improve their rotation immediately as soon as they are finally called up.

Don’t sleep on KC. Some of their bats are going to regress, but they’ve got a lot of help on the way that will likely impact them before the All-Star break. Detroit, not so much.

Is it a good thing or a bad thing that Halladay gives up 2 runs over 7 innings and Phils fans say “Whats wrong with Roy?”

Either way, we’re so spoiled with the way our pitchers have been. Hopefully Lee can mow down the Bravos tonight, and let Roy Oswalt take out his tornado frustration on them tomorrow.
