Andre Ethier extends hitting streak to 30 games

Andre Ethier just keeps on keepin’ on.

Ethier, who missed Wednesday’s game with left elbow inflammation, ripped a line drive single to right center field in the first inning of tonight’s game against the Mets.

Either is now the first player to hit in 30 consecutive games since Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman did it during the 2009 season.

Assuming his elbow bounces back OK, Ethier will have a chance to tie Willie Davis’ franchise record of 31 games (1969) on Saturday.

If Andre Ethier plays, and hits in, every scheduled game, he’ll break Joe DiMaggio’s record on Saturday, May 4th in Cincy.

It’s starting to get interesting…I just looked up the longest hitting streaks:

Once you start getting up to 34, 35 games is when it really starts to separate out.

Lost all respect for him when he tinkerbelled out of the game the other night. Good hitter, but who takes a day off when there in the middle of a big hitting streak?

Don’t worry gang. He isn’t good enough to break DiMaggio’s record.
