Roy Oswalt, who was scratched from Saturday’s scheduled start with lower back inflammation, was officially placed on the 15-day disabled list following last night’s loss to the Braves.

Oswalt originally felt something in his back when he was pulled from a start against the Marlins back on April 16. He hasn’t pitched in a game since April 26 due to his recent trip home to Mississippi, but tells Todd Zolecki of that his condition hasn’t improved.

“It hasn’t really gotten any better,” Oswalt said. “I could probably pitch Saturday, but I couldn’t promise anything on results. We’ll give it a few more days to see how it feels, and maybe throw Sunday or Monday on the side and see where I’m at and kind of go from there.”

Because Oswalt’s stint on the disabled list was backdated, he is eligible to return as soon as next Friday against the Braves. Of course, given his rust, the Phillies might want him to pitch a few innings in a minor league rehab game first.

Wait a minute, Roy. Weren’t you the one that said you were fine, your back was fine and you’d be able to pitch fine? Then you went out and had that abortion against the Padres? Then you run out of the building to go home and sit on a backhoe and clean up at home for a week+, say you’re fine and could pitch Saturday and then wait until Friday to say ‘Oh my back is hurt and it hasn’t gotten any better’? That’s kind of shady if you ask me.

Alternatively, the Phighten’s have been lying about the severity of injuries all year. Utley at first, then Lidge, Chooch, and now Oswalt. Oh no, nothing severe, they’re day to day. Now after a week of being day to day, they’re putting Ruiz on the DL too. Heres a hint, you’re not helping yourselves at all by trying to conceal injuries to the public at large

Now we learn the real reason he took that little leave, the old back was barking. Expect more phillies to hi the DL as this is a old team!!!

Good. Hate the Phillies and their attempt to buy titles.
