Yep. So either they give up their one day off in four weeks, or they play two double-headers in three days during the dog days of summer.

Brandon League will probably have gotten through an appearance without a loss by then too.

While I agree with you, one thing to keep in mind is that the south/west coast teams don’t want to be front loaded with home dates. Especially when kids are still in school, its only fair that the teams with a chance of rain/snow get home games too. I also seem to remember more series where you played a game had an off day in the middle of the series and then resumed the series, a built in make up day of sorts more in past years than this year.

It is also a by-product of nobody wanting baseball in November so starting the season earlier can produce these things.

They can’t play on that off day unless the players approve. I believe the CBA says 20 straight games maximum, without approval.

The Indians and Mariners will have a fun time making up the two games they lost to the weather this weekend. Seattle visits Cleveland once more and there is a mutual day off after that series, but that was the Tribe’s only day off in a 27-day stretch.

One more thing that could be helped with balanced schedules.

I have said before that creating an MLB schedule must be about as simple as herding cats, but for the life of me I can’t understand why matchups like COL v ARI in April would take place in Denver instead of Arizona. Seems like the south, the west coast and the domes should be hopping places early in the season.
