Orlando Hudson completed a brief minor-league rehab assignment last night and is expected to return from the disabled list when eligible Thursday, according to Tom Singer of MLB.com.

Hudson has been out since May 4 with a strained hamstring and didn’t hit much prior to the injury, but had already matched his career-high with 10 stolen bases in just 29 games … at age 33.

Eric Patterson and Alberto Gonzalez have split time at second base in Hudson’s absence and the Padres are 6-5 with him out of the lineup.
