Brian Roberts may be DL’d due to headaches

May 19, 2011, 3:35 PM EDT

Brian Roberts, Adam Jones

Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun reports that Brian Roberts will likely be placed on the disabled list due to headaches he’s been suffering since he slid head first into first base (why?!) during Monday’s game.  The Orioles are still evaluating him, but given that he suffered a concussion last season, one would think that caution is warranted.

Roberts has been a bit of a mess these past couple of years between the big stuff (concussions; back) and the small stuff (root canals, hamstring problems, stomach issues).  For now Robert Andino will fill in at second base.  Long term?  Man, don’t bet the life savings on Brian Roberts being healthy for anything approaching a sustained stretch of time.

Gritty. But not gritty enough, apparently. Needs more heart perhaps?

Does Headaches=Concussions?!? If they thought it was a concussion they could place him on the 7-day DL.

In this case I think headache does equal concussion. We just haven’t heard about it yet. It took a day or two after the last headfirst slide into first base before this issue officially became an issue.
