Hey Redbird fans, count your blessings. The staff in Cinti has exploded. And we are sinking fast. The only pitcher we can count on is Homer Bailey, and some in the BP. But you had better beware, the Brewers are coming on fast, and the Reds are the first team they will swallow up.

Options remaining has to be a factor in the decision, get the guy some work and see if he can get sorted out in Memphis.

Hell, at this point they all scare the bejeezus out of me – whomever comes in.

I have no idea how they’re winning games with the gasoline allley bullpen, horrific fielding, AAA supporting cast and Albert not being Albert.

I guess starting pitching and a surly manager go along way.

You comment about the options got me thinking. Because no one other than Sanchez and Salas have been getting any work lately, perhaps the move isn’t as much of a demotion as an opportunity to pitch. He hasn’t been sharp lately, so the trip to AAA, could be to sort things out and get some work.

Franklin is in the last year of his contract and was paid $3MM last year and $3.5MM this year….regardless, the money is gone…it is better to pay him to not pitch than to pay him and have him pitch…in other words, just because you are paying a guy doesn’t mean its a good idea to let him lose games for you.

Why not get rid of Franklin this makes no sense. Batista and Miller i would keep around for now but Franklin has to go.

I think it is just that Boggs has options…but so what, he is clearly better that Batista and Franklin….I’m tired of Frankling because he is brought in to get out lefties, doesn’t do it and then we have to sit through another pitching change. He’s been pretty bad the last month plus.

I’m in concert with you on the Batista/Franklin usage. In some ways Batista has been even worse. We don’t agree with Miller, but it is time for him to start throwing strikes. I am willing to stick with him, more on what he has done in the past, but he is on thin ice. The Boggs situation puzzles me. I never feel confident with him, but his work is still better than the aforementioned. I can’t help but wonder if there isn’t an internal issue, or injury or some other difficulty with him that isn’t baseball related.

Considering the dead weight in the bullpen, no way Boggs should have been sent down….Batista (allowing a .395 OBP), Franklin (self explanatory), and Miller (allowing a .370 OBP to lefties, nice lefty specialist) are all useless….each scares the hell out me with anything less than a 6 run lead.
