Its an INSURANCE MOVE. He is not being brought in to replace Victorino. It gives them a veteran who has played the position before that they can use in an emergency. When the rosters expand in September they can call him up and use him as a pinch runner if needed along with being a defensive replacement for Ibanez late in games.

Lehigh Valley’s outfield consists of Rich Thompson, Cory Sullivan, Delwyn Young, and Brandon Moss, so Podsednik may be a better choice for an emergency call-up.

Their outfield EYPs, and they do have them, are in the Florida State League and the Sally League and so offer no immediate help.

Bicepts, you have reached a new level for denseness, which for you is quite the accomplishment. Podsednik, has not, nor will he ever play 2B in the majors. He is left handed you goof. Just the though of him making the pivot at second is comical. The only thing more twisted than that image is your logic.

Never claimed to be a spelling wiz. It was a typo. Anyways, he can ALSO play 2nd base.

And. at the higher levels of the Phillies farm system, they ARE thin. All of their talen is in the lower minors and is years away. All scout agree with this.

The Jays had him last. Shoulda kept him. He can get on base. Unlike lots of other guys on my team. He’s a + move to have on your staff.

Another good sign; ‘bicepts doesn’t like him. By definition then Podsednick can hit since ‘bicepts is all about screwing any move the Phills might make to improve their hitting.

It’s a smart move. Defensive upgrade, upgrade on the basepaths, and anything is an upgrade over Francisco/Mayberry/Martinez and/or spot-starting Brown against righties. Overall upgrade– can’t say it’s a bad thing.

You’re clueless. They obviously did not make this move to restock the farm system. They did this for insurance for Utley. Baseball genious, they made this move because of the lack of talent they have in their farm system at 2nd base, youth-wise. You can’t be this stupid, can you?
