President Bush: would-be ball hawk

May 24, 2011, 10:30 AM EDT

Hey, not all ball hawks are successful, but former President Bush made a valiant effort at an Adrian Beltre foul ball at the White Sox-Rangers game last night.  If the woman in the red suit hadn’t gotten in front of him, I think W. has a chance at it. Or Laura does. I hear she can pick it.

And be honest: how many people out there are a bit disappointed that A.J. Pierzynski wasn’t beaten by a half dozen Secret Service agents for getting so close to Bush on the play?  I mean, no, he wasn’t a threat, but what’s the point of passing stuff like the Patriot Act if it doesn’t allow for summary beatings of guys like A.J. Pierzynski?

Presidents are so much more likeable once they are out of office.

Unlike his Vice President, who continues to look like Senator Palpatine right after he got zapped by his own Sith finger lightning.

        And a fully recovered economy.

Notice the difference in how Secret Service agents dress for regular season games and playoff games? During the playoffs, they wore the stereotypical dark suit, tie, and dark glasses and here we’ve got one in a polo shirt and one in an untucked dress shirt.

Can you imagine a better gig for a Secret Service agent than babysitting GWB at a Rangers game?

      • nixonotis - May 24, 2011 at 12:53 PM

Babysitting the first lady on a spa retreat?

I hate to be the bearer of common sense. It probably has more to do with temperature than appearance.

That was the closest thing to a weapon of mass destruction he ever really saw. Thank God he can’t start another BS war over it.
