Not for nothing, but the Sox were 2-10 on April 15. That’s just a tad more than two weeks ago.

The point of my post is that while no one should expect the Red Sox to maintain this pace, they’ve been playing outstanding baseball over the past 37 games. Arbitrary end points? Hell yeah. But because of that start, no one notices just how hot they’ve been.

Bob , you clearly must not watch baseball ? Ugh Beckett is the number one pitcher in the AL right now , if you disagree i would like to hear your argument for a better one . Lester 7-1 . Buchholz hasn’t lost a game in may , so what pitching problems ? If anyone has pitching problems it is the Yankees , enjoy the laser show , the best part of all this is not that Crawford has been hitting , it is that Salty is now crushing the ball and consistently doing so , Papi is back to him old self and well A gon and Youks numbers speak for themselves . Please grab some popcorn and enjoy the rest of the season.

In their case the pitching problems went on the DL. Lackey and Dice K’s replacements (Aceves and Wakefield) only gave up 3 runs total in their 2 starts. Not saying Aceves and Wakefield will always have those types of outings but they can only be better than Lackey and Dice K who at times looked like they were throwing a live BP session. The offense will carry some of those bad starts too.

I’m a Sox fan, but that’s crazy talk. It’s not like their first 12 games weren’t indicative of something, which is that this is a team that, like every team out there, has some flaws. Don’t get too low when they suck, but don’t get too high when they’re great, either. 89 wins isn’t anything close to a certainty.

they still have a top three that rivals most teams not located in Philly and the resources to make a deadline deal. This is the best team in the league starting to play like it.

I don’t know how long they can keep this up, but 25-12 projects to a 109-win season over the course of 162 games.
