I’ll say what i want to say …. looks to me like 10 people agreed with me and 1 with you , thanks for the input though. Your an idiot if you think the Yankees rotation would compare with the Red Sox in a playoff series , along with their offense , Granderson has thrown that team on his back as of late , it’s not that hard to see really.

Stop giving Sox fans a bad name here. The front of the Yankees’ rotation isn’t as good as the Sox, but even after our recent run, the Yankees pitching staff has allowed fewer runs and the offense has scored more.

I don’t think you understand what “half as good” actually means.

manxman: I don’t have the exact date of the rule change at my disposal but I think it was about 2 years ago when they stared counting all stats from games that were official games but did not go a full 9 innings.

The thing is , the Sox won’t narrowly miss the playoffs , when all said and done they will win the east by more then 5 games , you don’t really think the Yankees are half as good do you ? If they make it to the playoffs good luck with that rotation lol .CC Burnett and Hughes/Nova/Garcia/Colon , that combo will have teams shaking in their boots.

These team is cranking on all cylinders right now.

Unfortunately, if the Sox narrowly miss the playoffs this year, then no one will be able to say that their early stumbles were inconsequential.

All it takes is one or two games to make the difference for playing ball in October.

I’d be interested to see that rule written down somewhere. MLB rule 4.11 states:

“The score of a regulation game is the total number of runs scored by each team at the moment the game ends.”

and continues,

“(d) A called game ends at the moment the umpire terminates play, unless it becomes a suspended game”

Since when do the runs in the top of an inning that is not completed count? Red Sox win either way, but if a game is called (weather, darkness at old Wrigley, curfew in several cities, whatever) and the bottom of the inning has not been completed, that inning is NOT official and the score reverts to the previous innings result. 9-1, not 14-1. Both MLB.com & NBC Sports have it as 14-1. Did the rules change? The only reason a half inning should count in the stats is when the home team is winning and the bottom half could not affect the win/loss outcome (like the bottom of the ninth).
