For all of you giving this a thumbs down, what part don't you agree with? That baseball is populated by a vast majority of people with barely a high school education since they tend to get drafted at the end of their senior year?

That more and more Latin players are from third world countries whose talent alone sends them to baseball only camps where Education is an after thought and English is a second language?

Do you disagree with the thought that asking these groups of players to come up with insight is asking too much because they've never been asked to do a whole lot of critical thinking I'm their lives?

Or do you think beat writers don't neeed to follow up their question with another in order to get the player to think passed their original cliche? Composing a question and its follow up is as much the writer's job as watching the game and writing the summary.

So for all the random thumbs down folks out there, could you take a minute to explain what is so wrong with thinking this is a closed ended system where writer and player just keep contributing to making each other look bad and that the power to change it lies with the writers themselves through a little extra effort?

Reporters need to simply ask better questions and actually use follow up questions to get a player to apply a little critical thought to the situation they are being asked to comment upon.
