Reds place Homer Bailey on DL with sprained shoulder

Homer Bailey pitches

UPDATE: Sure enough, the Reds put him on the DL. Mike Leake is taking his place.

Homer Bailey complained of muscle spasms in his shoulder after leaving yesterday’s start and John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports that he’s been diagnosed with a sprained shoulder.

Reds trainer Paul Lessard told Fay that no surgery will be required and an MRI exam came back “OK.”

However, it sounds like Bailey will probably be placed on the disabled list, which is where he spent the first five weeks of the season with a shoulder impingement.

In between the injuries Bailey built on a solid 2010 showing by going 3-1 with a 3.00 ERA and 22/5 K/BB ratio in 30 innings.

The Kingston Trio sang a song about him… “Unfortunate Mr. Bailey!”.

If it wasn’t for bad luck, he’d have no luck at all. One thing after another in his brief career

Is it me or does he look like Christian Bale?

Have the Reds found a personal shopper for Mike Leake yet?
