Stepping on the bat lead to the injury and damage as Roberts. Quintero looks like he’s blocking without the ball too. Rule calls this interference. Roberts is safe no matter what if we’re playing by the rules.

The ball was still live. If an Astros player had possession of the ball and the baserunners stopped attempting to advance, then the ump would have ruled the play dead. If an outfielder hurts himself while chasing a fly ball, you don’t just give the offense a ground-rule double, you let the play finish first.

Roberts really had 3 options: Barrel over Quintero, jump over him, or go far right and try to swipe tag the plate with his hand. Option #3 is the safest (injury-wise) and completely possible, but with the throw beating Roberts, he likely would have been out, assuming Quintero catches the ball cleanly.

You don’t have to dive on the plate like a grenade to be blocking it.

Plays don’t stop if a player is hurt, they stop when the ball is dead.

Sucks for Quintero, if not for slipping on the bat, and because it was a force play, he wouldn’t have wound up in that position at all.
