Adam Jones may have made the play of the year

Not much else to say about it other than “watch this.” Over the shoulder. On the run. Into the wall. Wow.

That pic is from right after he caught it.  It reminded me of this:

As a proud member of the culture to which you allude above, I won’t leave you hanging.

    Efff ya.

It was hard for me to find a pic of that guy without the “F-Yeah” written across it.

Nasty! Matusz owes him a beer!

  3. randomdigits - Jun 1, 2011 at 5:38 PM

Kinda disappointed he wasn’t blowing a bubble while making the catch.

Wait is this play actually cooler than that Weeks/Other Guy I Can’t Recall double play from a couple weeks ago? I want a poll or something!

Betancourt with the behind the back glove flip to weeks barehanding it and tossing it to first? yeah that was cooler. may or may not be biased..

Still like the Fuld all out dive, in the corner, mid-air catch. Thing is, these guys make it look easy. Seen them come up with catches in BP but never into the wall like this. Hang a star.

Wait a minute… that’s not how you spell Andruw..

As much as it pains me now and at the time it happened, Laynce Nix had a full out dive and slide this afternoon which was pretty amazing.

I still like the Griffey Jr and Jim Edmonds catches like this better :)

  9. mck10 - Jun 1, 2011 at 7:51 PM

Actually Craig, Andrew McCutchen may have just made the play of the year… I’m pretty certain it’s better than Jones’.

    • randomdigits - Jun 1, 2011 at 8:22 PM

Heck of a catch but Jones had to worry about running face first into the wall while McCutchen started his slide before the warning track. Advantage Jones.

Man, did he cover some ground before that catch, also. Wow!

  11. shanemcdowell - Jun 1, 2011 at 9:17 PM

How dare he make a catch like that on a ball hit by the Mariner’s most indispensable player?

  12. cur68 - Jun 1, 2011 at 11:22 PM

Wow. Some catch. He didn’t even drop his daughter and he still hung onto the ball. That’s how you do THAT.

No catch will ever be better than Mays’ The Catch. I mean the photage is all black and white and grainy, beautiful. Makes a man want to throw his fedora in the air not given a hoot where it lands.
