I always feel the Red Sox are over protective and they put their players on the dl for hangnails, But last year they let Pedroia rush back and he play 3 games or something like that and was done for the season. After that they said they had trusted what he was telling them and they made a mistake to listen to the player.

Its hard to tell how someone else feels I guess is what I am trying to say

His line drive rate has gone up over the past few weeks after being way below his career average for the first month and a half or so of the season. That combined with the amount of baserunners the Cardinals have had (and yes a bit of bad luck) led to his astronomical number of GIDPs to start the season.

Oh, Albert Pujols did. In 2007. And he still lead the league in WAR.

The Cardinals have had a pretty disturbing recent history of returning unhealthy players to action only to be forced to send them back to the DL with the same problem (now much worse) a few days later. They rushed back Carpenter a few years ago when he wasn’t healthy, they insisted Mark Mulder was healthy when he was throwing 82 mph fastballs and there are many, many other examples.

Maybe this is the case with every team and I only notice because I watch the Cards far more often….

Leading MLB in GIDP’s 1/3 of the way through the season is not bad luck. He’s still great, will come around, blah blah blah, etc. But something is wrong.

Pujols is starting to look better. 2-3 last night with a double. A HR on Monday. Maybe it was just bad luck?

While of course I’d rather have Holliday in the lineup, Supreme Court Justice Jon Jay hasn’t done too bad himself. If it weren’t for Bruce, he could be NL player of the month, with a Williams-esque .392 BA.
