Why is it that the athlete is always the last one to know that he’s done? Baseball & boxing especially, but in other sports too. Guys just want to hang on & keep playing when everyone watching at home can see it’s over.

When he played for the Phillies he was awful as a starter but very effective once he went to the pen in ’09. I agree that the pen is where he needs to be so he can give max effort for 1 or 2 innings as opposed to slopping around as a starter for 6 innings. He’s either too old now or he just doesn’t get up for the games in the Japan league and is going through the motions. it sounds like his coaches sense that.
