Thome’s stated goal is to get to 600 career home runs (I think he’s now only 4 away). What would be really nice and fitting is if when he finally hits it, he rounds the bases, tips his hat passing third base on his way home and then announces his immediate retirement, but he’s stubborn as a mule and won’t.

So instead of going out on top, Big Jim is going to be remembered for hanging on as Willie Mays did in his final days as a Met. Sad.

When will the injuries stop?! We need Thome in the lineup! Hopefully he’s only day to day. I can’t even keep track of who is injured or not anymore. Sorry for Thome; class guy. Brought a winning mentality to the Phillies. Helped turn the franchise around. Oh and Drew, probably shouldn’t call them twinkies…in some circles it is a homophobic slur. I would hate for you to get fined by Bud Selig and forced to do a lame PSA.
