Ozzie indeed does it better… best in fact since the days of Earl Weaver and the early years of Lou “pick up a base and take it with you, then kick dirt all over the umpire” Piniella.

Big difference though between Ozzie and Collins. Ozzie’s explosions are always straight from the heart and happen immediately. Collins rant was just one of pent up frustration with a mis-matched, over-paid, under performing club.

Did you guys and gals see where the Twins manager came unusually unhinged yesterday too, accusing his team of lackadaisical play? Unfortunately just as winning is contagious, so is losing.

Ozzie does it better because you need your imagination to fill in the holes where you couldn’t understand what the hell he was saying—and that is a lot of imagination.

Is there a more hapless and hopeless job in all of baseball than being the manager of the Mets? What did Collins expect he was inheriting? A division contender? Ha!

What the Mets and Twins both need to do is to completely retool their rosters to better match up with the unpleasant surprise their new home ballparks have dealt to them (i.e., both ballparks play very big).
