I don’t think Posey has to “man up”. He said that it wasn’t an illegal play. End of his part of this story (for now). He’s not responsible for anything said by Bochy, Sabean or anyone else. He will not be responsible if Cousins gets plunked either.

As a Braves fan, I can remember when Darren Erstad killed Jonny Estrada at home plate—while Estrada was no Posey—he was hitting around .300 for us that year & up until that point was probably the most productive hitter on the team—but once he got that concussion he was never the same player, and his offensive production fell off the table—yet not once did the Brave’s GM publicly attack Erstad, demand a rule change, or villianize an opposing player so much that he’d never be welcome back in their town again! Posey needs to man up & publicly fix this thing! Yes Buster you lost 1 season—but the guy who did it to you—lost his hometown, his personal security, & possibly his future career! He’s tried to apologize to you— now be a big boy & accept it—before things really get ugly!

Each and every one of you has failed to mention the fact that this collision turned ugly due to 2 things, 1- Buster wasn’t expecting the collision, therefore not in a good position to take the impact. 2- Cousins being a little overagressive when he did have some room to get to the plate. When you run over a catcher NO PLAYER ever wants to end the guys season. Give Cousins a break and enough with the grammer and spelling lessons.

By the way, when I said “Punctuate according to pronunciation,” that merely stands as fact for the case of singular possession. I’ve bothered to look it up and several separate sources agree. Now if you’re using pronunciation to determine how something is spelled, people would make you feel like an idiot pretty quickly.

Because rule changes are why the NFL is #1 in sports, right?

How often is a catcher significantly injured on a collision at the plate? A couple times a year? Maybe? That’s not really enough to warrant a rule change. Should we also get rid of fastballs because every once in a while someone gets hurt by one high and inside?

If anything, they should eliminate maple bats if they want to make the game safer.

Sabean is a CLOWN. What an unprofessional loser. It was unfortunate what happened but it was a freak occurence on a routine collision. If you don’t want to get run over then don’t block the plate. If you’re afraid of contact then go play golf. The reaction from this clown is ridiculous. This is major league baseball played by grown men not ten year olds in a little league. And the fans sending death threats to him are ridiculous. Probably fut ugly middle aged loseres with no life. Yes Posey was the heart and soul of your team and your season is most likely over but get over it. Collisions happen in baseball if you clowns want to demand they change the rules now then just watch figure skating because this is ridiculous. What a bunch of morons.

I have never seen or heard anything about spelling/punctuating things as they are pronounced. If that were true, then there is a great deal of grammar that is incorrectly taught and used.

My view on the situation is that they were both in the wrong. Cousins had enough room there to slide safely without the collision, but Posey placed himself at risk unnecessarily, and without the ball. As for the fallout, Posey, his agent and Sabean are totally in the wrong for their reactions.
