This from a Phillies fan, I have no problem with what Sabean said he was venting personally if I was the Giants manager some folks would have gotten thrown at the next day. Slide because he had a lane and none of this happens does it deserve death threats of course not. And what rule says the Posey has to accept his apology?

didn’t know Dan Gladden was doing radio in KC(?). He was a good Giganto for sure. Typical that he won a ring elsewhere. Is he good on the radio? Or, is he one of the “game was tougher when I played” crowd. Have a feeling we are better off with Krukow and Kuiper here.

I don’t know why I can’t post over at TCM. Never tried before now, and have read for a loong while. Objecting to despicable. From Taiwan by way of the Windy ‘Stick and the New Yard at 3rd and King I tell you that crushing an ankle isn’t fun having done both of mine, and a knee. His pain is ours in a deeply personal and passionate way, sorry if we have been a bit maudlin. I am very sorry that the dolt Sabes has advertised his mind to the world to our shame. Even if it is what some may feel, it isn’t something that should be said out loud, kinda like your wacky uncle spouting off at Christmas eh. I also know that after all this settles out and comes to nothing, the defending champion Gigantos will roll the West, take their shot in October against the usual cast of pretenders and contenders and, win or lose, be even stronger next year when the secretly bionic Posey is back next season. We can rebuild him, stronger and faster,,,

Sabean is a dolt. How a Renteria and Uribe became a World Championship is a Posey dream for sure. Sabes getting credit for it has been hard to swallow for a long few months. Painful as the Posey nightmare is, this is still a team that could, should? win the West given rotation health and above abysmal offense. Somehow getting the potted palm out of the rotation on the left side of the infield would help too. Maybe we have found a truly young and athletic short stop who hits above replacement topiary. Again, Sabes is a fool, long we have suffered money poorly spent, now he suffers the taste of crow, or is that his loafer with salt and pepper? Some orange and black piece of me might think all that fell out of his mouth, but would never, certainly in his position, say out loud. I am glad for the alignment of the stars that brought a long suffered trophy to SF, don’t mind too much that Sabes was a part of it. Please don’t forget, lest he remind you, that he is a fool. And, again, somehow, this is a team that someone must dethrone in October, tremble Phils phans, cuz, they WILL win the West and have beaten all that rotation before,, and will only be better in ’12 when the Posey returns! Damn it is a good time to be a Giganto fan.

I actually have a lot of respect for sabean after his comment about cousins. He basically said what every giants fan was/is feeling and I can never dislike a guy for speaking his mind. Was it professional? Definitely not. Was it honest? Hell yes. Just because the play isnt textbook dirty, doesn’t mean it was necessary. But hey, cousins is batting around .200, and I’m pretty sure he knows that the franchise is willing to demote him for petersen (once his bat heats up), so I’m not surprised he tried to prove himself by bulldozing the catcher, when he could have easily slid and still scored.

Cousins decision caused posey to tear 3 ligaments on his ankle. anyone who has ever torn their ACL or a ligament knows that even if it completely heals, it’s never going to be a 100% again. And as a catcher, posey needs every ounce of strength from his legs and ankles to catch that outstanding pitching staff. Squatting for 9+ innings is not easy. I dont blame posey for being angry with the guy even if the play was “clean”. Cousins not only has taken buster out for the season, but probably has hindered poseys career as a catcher because im sure that that ankle will be a recurring problem for posey.Try squatting for 10 minutes, I guarantee your legs will start burning.

Furthermore, the rules should definitely be changed. Players are getting faster and stronger, leaving the catcher more vulnerable to injury. Just because you enjoy watching two guys crash into each other at full speed is no reason for the rules to remain the same. Thats why we have football, god bless it.

So let me sum it up, sabean is a total badass. Cousins chose to do the masculine thing by tackling posey. And as a result, posey will never be 100% again, even if he does completely heal. Should the rules be changed? Yes.

If Posey was half the man the Giants are building him up to be he would take some responsibility for his horrible footwork on the play. Bottom line if he had his foot in correct position he gets knocked over, gets up and keeps on playing; but his foot was out of position and his ankle got torn up. He tried to be a superstar and it ended badly for everyone involved. Hubris only gets you so far. Unfortunate event but both sides could of done something different.

It’s not like someone couldn’t break an ankle from someone sliding into them. If the catcher’s cleat gets caught like Posey’s did, I would think it would be more likely that it would happen from someone sliding into it at top speed. I really think this is another case of people overreacting to a freak accident followed up by really weird comments by a GM.

Each them could have been a season-ender if the runner decided to bowl over the catcher. People act like running over the catcher is the norm. It is not. Almost all players slide on those close plays.

Brian Sabean’s comments yesterday were said out of frustration and out of true concern for Buster and were not meant to vilify Scott Cousins. Brian has been in contact with Florida Marlins General Manager Larry Beinfest to clarify his comments and to assure him that there is no ill-will toward the player.

So when Sabean said, “If I never hear from Cousins again or he never plays another game in the big leagues, I think we’ll all be happy,” he wasn’t trying to vilify Cousins? He had no ill-will towards him? Geez, someone in that organization grow some balls and speak the damn truth.

Actually on the radio Dan Gladden ripped into Span for not running into the catcher, i found that a little funny. I was just trying to point out that not every play at the plate is potentially a season ender.

Indeed, how many of those runners chose to slide and how many chose to run over Pena? Both of them slid into home instead of running over the catcher. Just pointing out that nearly every runner will slide in these situations, very few player choose to bowl over the catcher. Span would have been safe if he’d run over Pena, I guess he just doesn’t play hard enough.

Logan Morrison , decided to open his mouth too wow this is just getting stupid . Look just let it rest people get heated no big deal but for Morrison to say something about posey is pretty stupid considering that posey has not came out and bashed cousins . So what if posey didn’t kiss and make up . If it’s part of the game as the marlins are saying then shut up and play and let other talk about it . If the death threats are true that sucks but that’s for MLB and the FBI to sort out .

Giants fans were on a continuous high from last November to last week. When Posey was called up from Fresno, almost a year to the day from the infamous play last week, the team began to click, made the playoffs and rolled to the title. It all came crashing down in a sudden and grotesque way last week and die hard Giants fans have been in shock. Pardon all the bitching and whining but we waited forever to get a title and we all despised seeing our young franchise cornerstone get taken out for the year (hopefully just the year) on what looked to be an avoidable play. It’s been a bitch to rationalize but we’re getting over it I think. The 25 guys on the roster seem to be getting over it since they just finished a 4-3 road trip through the two top teams in the NL Central. Now it’s time for Giants fans to move on as well. After a road heavy beginning the Giants are home most of June. First pitch in 15 minutes. Let’s roll !!!!

When did Buster Posey die? Oh he didn’t? Geez, is this the first time the Giants have lost a player to injury? What happens if Lincecum ever goes in for Tommy John, are they gonna bury him alive and wear black patches for the rest of their season?
