Maybe he did it during a game when there would be plenty of witnesses to see his stunt double in a luxury box. Then they would all testify that there's no way McCourt started the fire because he was upstairs watching the game the whole time.

Remember, it's a McCourt we're talking about here. Who knows, maybe he thought during a game is when people would least expect something of that nature to go down.

And even if he didn't start the fire during the game, that doesn't mean he wasn't the guy that turned the fan on to try to help it along.

Cynical, CJ. If McCourt was trying to burn down Dodger Stadium to collect the insurance money, we know from every old detective TV series that the time to set these fires is at 2 a.m., when only the elderly night watchman is still around. McCourt would not be dumb enough to set these fires during an actually game. I'm about 80% sure of this. Well, maybe 60%, but no lower.

I was going to post some sarcasm about McCourt trying to burn down a ginormous concrete structure to collect the insurance money, and how only someone as dumb as McCourt coudl think that would even work. After reading about how someone literally fanned the flames, I'm not so sure that's sarcasm.

After all, he has to have run out of cash advances by now and has to make the June payroll somehow.

It seems that the flammable material that was supposed to be removed from the room was not removed. Also, quoting an LAFD spokeman, ”Someone turned on a fan to clear the smoke out and [instead] they fanned the fire.” .... on purpose.
