UPDATE: Mark Teixeira was diagnosed with a right knee contusion after X-rays came back negative, reports Joel Sherman of the New York Post. He’ll be reevaluated tomorrow.

7:38 PM: The Yankees are crossing their fingers are the moment.

Mark Teixeira was pulled from tonight’s game against the Red Sox in the bottom of the first inning after being hit in the right knee by a pitch by Jon Lester. He immediately fell to the ground in agony and had to be helped off the field.

X-rays will surely follow, so stay tuned for an update on his status.

Teixeira was replaced on the basepaths by Jorge Posada, which is a pretty interesting move considering how much he has struggled against southpaws this season.

Cannot understand this at all- bring Swish in for 1st, put Dickerson in right.
Of course, at the rate we’re going, Swish might ultimately be pitching.

Yeah, I agree with you there and I would have drilled Gonzo in his surgergically repaired shoulder there instead of intentionally walking him.

you are 100% right, they hit two Yankee hitters tonight, at least one blowsox should have gotten drilled, i would have loved to seen big potbelly getting drilled right in the head that cheater

How many backwards K’s have to be next to Andruw Jones’ name before they cut him?

You’re 100% on track, this guy is finished(Jones). They should bring up Jorge Vasquez the guys got power and I’ll bet he won’t strike out near as much as Jones. I checked just this morning and he has 19 homeruns and Maxwell the outfielder has 16 it’s time to make some moves.

Jorge Vasquez should have made the team out of spring training. When is Chavez coming back?

That seemed pretty painful, for when I saw the videos. I think if anything happens to Tex, the yankees will be losin a lot of offense and defense, especially with the way he has been playing lately. Hopefully he is fine.

Just saw the hi-lite of Tex getting one in the kneecap. Ow. That really hurt. I’m real glad its only a bruise, but like the Rollin’s bone bruise, this could actually be more painful than a break. The bone bleeds at the impact site and the pain from the swelling plus the deep bone pain can be extremely hard to bear. Many report that its worse than a break. Poor old Tex. I like him; he’s got class. Too bad about this.

Woo Hoo! Three singles almost has him hitting the Mendoza line! Definately numbers worthy of being the DH for the New York Yankees.
