Really? I’m pretty sure he’s been healthy since he got to the majors, other than his broken wrist. He may have been fat last year, but he got into 152 games and had 600+ plate appearances in both 09 and 10.

I hope they hang on to him. I was happy when the Giants signed him since that should have ended LaRussa’s campaign to sign him, LaRussa having been a long-time admirer….I worry that if he becomes available the Cardinals will waste a roster spot an him for his veteraniness, ignoring his complete inability to play baseball.

When I first saw the headline on this post I thought ‘the Giants have released Tejada and think they made a mistake by releasing him?’ Thankfully reading the post made a lot more sense.

But who will be the GM that is licking his chops at getting Miggy on his team? That will be the odds-on favorite for the first GM to be out of a job this year.

There was a time when I wanted the Twins to land Miggy, granted it was about a decade ago.

Unfortunately, this could be exactly the type of move that Bill Smith makes to “improve” his ailing roster.

My guess is they hang on to him for a while. Since Crawford is left-handed and so is Belt, Gillaspie and Fontenot the Giants would be a little thin vs. southpaws on the infield. He can still spell whomever at SS in a pinch, and handle third with Sandoval sliding over to 1st when healthy and facing lefties.

Sad to say, the time has come for Miggy to ride off to that Morton’s in the sunset.. If not for DeRosa’s continuing injuries the Giants would have released Tejada by now. The A’s just DFA’d Adam LaRoche, no superstar, but better this year than Miggy. Even with Sandoval the Giants will need cover at 3rd as Sandoval has not established a talent for staying healthy. I could see some sort of DFA for Miggy, and a move for cover like LARoche at AAA while Sandoval is playing.
