Simply put, the Yankees aren’t going to be able to keep pace with the Red Sox, much less even make the playoffs, with a back end of their rotation being Nova, Garcia and Colon. Garcia and Colon haven’t been able to stay off the DL come the dog days of August for several years now, and they aren’t getting any younger.

Just curious- besides them making Soriano the highest paid reliever signed this offseason- who else should the Yankees have gone after exactly?

I’m not referring though to the Yankees retaining their own aging players, but what they’ve done in terms of player acquisition ever since Hank jealously commented on Jeter’s new mansion in Tampa. ALL of the Yankees acquisitions since then have been low salaried, reclamation projects. Bottom line? Hank and Hal simply don’t want to spend any more money.

Actually, I think the Yankees look like geniuses right now for 1) not breaking the bank for whatever mediocre starter was available after they lost Lee, and 2) getting great production for 21 starts from Garcia and Colon, whom everyone thought were washed up. Even if those two never pitch again this year, the Yankees have already gotten a great return on their investment.

Yankees need pitching; Hank and Hal are too cheap to allow Ca$hman to go after it.
