Not a chance. While Ramirez did violate his contract, that contract specified very clearly what the penalty for that violation would be: a 50 game suspension.

Didn’t Manny violate the terms of his contract when he failed a drug test for taking PED’s? Oh; I am mistaken he was suspended for having high levels of female hormones in his system. That may be the out for the Dodgers not paying him his money? There is precedent here. Denny Nagle’s contract was voided by the Rockies after being arrested for soliciting sex from a prostitute. They used the moral clause in that contract to void it totally. If the Dodgers took this position I am sure they would prevail

I say it doesn’t matter if the Dodgers make payroll or not. It wouldn’t surprise me if the Courts force a sale of the Dodgers as part of the divorce settlement. By this time next year there will be a new owner/sheriff in Dodgertown. Does Mark Cuban sound familiar fresh off the Mavs NBA Title..

Aaron, I have a question more along the legal (Craig) line. Even IF Manny were to agree to waive, postpone this payment, since it is still a contractual obligation that a certain amount was to be paid at a certain time, wouldn’t that STILL go against the balance sheet and make them technically bankrupt?
