Their slide has had much more to do with the implosion of the boolpen, Javier Vasquez’ return to futility after a couple of weeks of solid peetching, and the sudden epic inability of anyone in the lineup to drive in RISP. Hanley was just one more toothless cog in the wonky wheel. When you’re batting .148 with RISP as a team. the return of a guy who bats .210 is by definition an improvement.
