Come back and let’s see at the end of Peavy’s current contract if you can still make the same empty boast. Richard’s after all, nothing worth bragging about.

Go ahead and take him then. Peavy’s best days are over and since YOU aren’t paying the salary why not take him? Richard is much better at this point. Padres got out of a terrible salary and Richard has outperformed Peavy. Case CLOSED. Don’t like it, sorry, those are the facts.

The reason that the White Sox were willing to part with Richard and Danial Hudson (traded to Phoenix), is because neither one could crack the White Sox six man starting rotation and neither projected to be any better than a 4th or 5th starter in the American League.

That’s not to say that he’s not a good fit for the Padres, however, but it is to say that on the road Clayton this season (now that he’s been once through the league), rarely stays in the game long enough to give his team a chance to win.

The problem is staying healthy. He can’t do it. So Richard > Peavy right now.

Richard’s has totally SUCKED on the road this year. He now has an ERA on the road of 5.97! (pee-ewww). Any pitcher looks much better stat wise than they really are when they get to pitch half their games in cavernous Petco Park (not to mention the three automatic outs they also get out of the pitchers spot because of the lack of a DH in the antiquated NL).

Peavy’s tendencies to now frequently break down are certainly a concern, but if he can ever get and stay healthy, I’ll take him (despite his high salary), over two Clayton Richard’s any day!

It’s hard to say who really won with that trade.. only good thing is the Padres don’t have to pay the salary of Peavy and besides this year Richard has been decent.

Of the four prospects that the White Sox sent to the Padres in the Peavy deal, only Clayton Richard remains and he can’t get anybody out unless he’s pitching in cavernous Petco Park. On the road Richard’s ERA right now is 5.97! (pee-ewww!).

Dexter Carter once released by the Padres was quickly re-signed by the White Sox, and I expect the White Sox to make a strong play to also bring Poreda back as well. I believe that this roster move though now leaves the Padres 40 man roster without any Jewish representation too!
