They were 15.5 back a week and half ago and that is down to single digits. They have Mauer, Nishioyka, Thome, Kubel, and Slowly all coming back sooner rather than later. The Twins who had one of the best records a home last year, have played the least amount of homes in baseball. 9 games back and over half the season to play? Yeah i guess they are done.

Basically, he’s been called a wuss, a faker, out-of-shape, or all of the above. It’s a really strange reaction especially because we usually revere Twin Cities natives like Mayer. Rarely has one of our native sons fallen so far, so fast.

Dan Gladden, Twins radio color guy and resident “gamer,” today ripped Mauer during an interview with a Chicago radio station. Same veiled and not-so-veiled complaints about Mauer not rehabbing an old injury and being out of shape.

With the guys the Twins have coming off the DL in the next 2 weeks (Mauer, Kubel, Span, Nishioka, Thome, Perkins, Nathan), I would be extremely hesitant to bet against the Twins at this point in the season – especially if I’m from Detroit or Chicago.
