What people mean tonight when they say it’s his best performance is a) it’s his best regular-season performance, and/or b) it’s the least number of hits he’s ever allowed.

Best performance of his overall career, given the quality of competition and the stage, I’d have to agree with you.

I think this was his best performance…considering everything it was for…and I doubt it will ever be topped in his career.

You know what did it? It was that bonk on the noggin in spring training. Just like tightening the bolt in Frankenstein’s Monster’s neck, a jolt to Becket’s head was just what was needed to flip him into Cy Young mode.
