Yes, it's fun to watch Stanton hit three run X-Prize contenders when the game is already a lost cause, and even more fun watching him strike out with runners on second and third when the Feesh are down a run in the ninth.

Do I sound sunk in cynicism? That's nothing. Watch this:

The Feesh's great experiment with batting Hanley leadoff again amounted to 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. What an attack plan - sending him up against Hamels in his current state of utter offensive ineptitude was a bit like watching the Polish cavalry's frontal assault against a Panzer division.

Between Johnson's shoulder and Mr. Anderson's elbow, the wind is out of the sails for our two teams. At least you have Stanton. Although Jemile Weeks hit his third triple in a week last night. That's fun to watch.

They filleted themselves in so many ways that JJ's absence is beginning to look like a mere footnote to this lost planet expedition of a season. But as I wrote a few days ago, why bring him back and risk doing real long-term damage when the team itself is so unlikely to support him anyway? This is a problem he had last year as well - and there have been rumors on the grapevi...heh, I mean, kudzu - that surgery will be next if this R&R stint doesn't do the job.

Yeah. In addition to talks about league changes with doing away with divisions, etc., Selig has been in talks with the union to change the description from "DL" to "Vacation".

So, in the future, it will say "Josh Johnson placed on a 60 day Vacation."
