No “thumbs” up or down for this post from me. What you say makes baseball sense to me and that ought to deserve an “uppie”, but as a Yankee hater, I hope they put Jeet back at SS and at leadoff…

I don’t have any problem with Jeter batting first or second! What he brings to the Yankees is not measured in groundouts, he will start finding the holes and the extra base hits. His contribution is measured in leadership and knowledge of his team and the opposition. If you really know baseball then you know that a Veteran like Jeter brings much more to the game than what some bloggers write here. I am sad to see the lack of respect given Jeter in this Blog. He is HOF material and this is just plain stupid.

The Yankees are only 1.5 games out of first place with many players on the DL or lost for the season. There is no Phil Hughes, Joba is gone for the year, and Rafael Soriano, Bartolo Colon, Eric Chavez, Damaso Marte and Pedro Feliciano on the DL. The Redsox must be wondering why they can’t shake the Yankees even after winning 7 of 8 from the Bronx Bombers so far this year. This is a testament to Brian Cashman and his uncanny ability to field a team that can win. These numbers against the Redsox will change because they always do when these clubs get together. The Sox are playing out of their minds right now and have not had the same kind of player losses the Yankees have had. When all is said and done the Yankees and Redsox will most likely play in the ALCS.

He should be dropped way down in the batting order. He hits into too many dp”s. The Yankees are 7 and 1 without him in the lineup, now the question is, what to do with him for the remainder of the insane contract the Yankees gave him?

Nunez reminds me of Alfonso Soriano without the power. He got picked off first last night. Just a bunch of stupid mental lapses so far for him. Hopefully as he gets more comfortably, he stops thinking and just starts playing.

Jeter does have the highest ground ball percentage out of all qualifying batters. Maybe they should keep him #1 in the order so there’s the smallest chance of hitting with runners on?

I don’t think I would mind Jeter coming back as much as I do if Girardi and Cashman would just bit the bullet and tell Jeter he is moving down in the batting order, and he has one of two options. Either accept it or retire. I mean way down in the batting order. Batting him 1st or even 2nd and having more capable offensive players not in those positions is a huge mistake. That’s just my opinion.
